Sharon Jones Shaffer serves Marion Regional Development Corporation as the Executive Director. She has held this post since May 2006. Prior to joining MRDC, she worked for over 8 years as the County Administrator in Marion County. While working there, Sharon was the treasurer of the Marion County Development Authority and served on the Executive Committee. Prior work experience also includes Frostburg State University, Governor Joe Manchin’s campaign staff, the WV Legislature Senate President’s Office, WV Governor’s Office, and Rutter Media.

Sharon is involved with the community serving on various boards since returning to WV in 1997. Currently, she serves on Marion 1st in the 21st Committee, Fairmont Renaissance Corporation Board of Directors, and the I-79 Development Council along with its Executive Committee. Ms Shaffer is President of the Fairmont Rotary Club. She is a graduate of Leadership Marion XVII and Leadership WV.

Sharon graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. She also has a Master of Public Administration Degree from West Virginia University. Ms Shaffer is currently taking courses to become a Certified Economic Developer.
