Local TransportationPublic transportation is offered by the Fairmont/Marion County Transit Authority (FMCTA). Marion County has an exceptional public transit system that serves most of the county as well as the I-79 Corridor. The system utilizes 26 vehicles covering 17 routes. Motor freight carriers and container services are available by local providers such as Overnight, General Delivery, Roadway Express, Trucking Motor Freight and WS Thompson Transportation. CSX operates railroads in the county. The Monongahela, Tygart, and West Fork Rivers are located in the county with dock service available on the Monongahela through Marion Docks.

Additionally, Fairmont has a small, private airport for single and small twin engines use. International Air Service Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is located 90 miles from Fairmont. With about 290 non-stop flights per day to 80 destinations, Pittsburgh International Airport is served by 19 air carriers as well as being a US Airways focus city. |
